I) Filing Application.

1. Protection of industrial property rights including patents, trademarks, and industrial designs is obtained via the Institute for Standardization, Metrology, and Patents of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
2. Trademark protection could be obtained for goods and services, two and three-dimensional marks, and marks in standard characters or figurative marks.
3. The requirements for filing a trademark application:

- Applicant’s full name and address.
- At least one black-and-white reproduction of a figurative mark (Max. size 8 cm x 8 cm).
- If a figurative mark is in color, then at least two color reproductions of the mark (max. size 8cm x 8cm).
- A list of goods and services (if possible classified according to the Nice Classification).
- Individual or general power of attorney (must be submitted within three months of the filing date).
4. Certificate of filing (rub rum) will be received in 5 days.

II) Examination and the Grant Decision.

After the application is filed, the Bosnia and Herzegovina Patents and Trademark Office (BiH PTO) starts the examination process but only after 3 years in the regular procedure (due to the large number of applications). However, a request for early examination can be submitted, in which case the results can be received after 2 months and the grant decision after paying the official fees for 10 years.

III) After issuance of grant decision, the certificate of registration will be issued in 7 days.
